Johannesburg, South Africa
The Wits Students’ Physician Society is a medical student-run society based at the University of the Witwatersrand. Our passion is focused on internal medicine and paediatrics, and we make it our mission to aid our fellow medical students by hosting numerous skills workshops and events to ignite a campus life for medical students and help them in their future careers as medical doctors and healthcare professionals.
We partake in numerous outreach initiatives across Gauteng, such as school outreaches, hospital visits, mobile clinics, soup kitchens and donation drives. Furthermore, our committee coordinates regular volunteer programmes at the Emergency Department at Helen Joseph Hospital, weekly volunteering at the Johannesburg Paediatric Colorectal Clinic, based at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, as well as the Johannesburg Children’s Home. Additionally, our society maintains a longstanding working relationship with the registered non-profit organisation, the BHCC: Hospital and Clinic Outreach, and supports their missions through our outreach drives.
